Central Library in Conroe Announces Events for May 2019
CONROE, TX - The following events are planned for adults, children, young adults, and their families in May 2019 at Central Library, 104 I-45 North, Conroe, Texas.

Tuesday, May 7th and Friday, 10th at 4:30 pm – Girls Who Code Informational Meeting
This summer we will offer Girls Who Code Clubs for ages 8-12 and 13-17. Girls Who Code is a program that encourages girls to enter the computer science field by introducing them to computer coding. The program for ages 8-12 follows the book Girls Who Code: Learn To Code and Change The World written by the founder of the Girls Who Code program. The club for ages 13-17 will investigate coding through a project that will be posted on their own website. Although the clubs are meant for girls, boys are welcome to participate as well. Club members must attend the club for their age group. Come to the informational meeting to learn more. Space is limited and registration is required for the clubs. Tuesday, May 14th at 1:00 pm – Instant Pot 101
Learn how to cook healthier meals with your Instant Pot! A representative from the AgriLife Extension Services will be here to help you learn how to make quick, nutritious meals with an electric pressure cooker. Have a question about your computer, phone or tablet? How about how to use a Microsoft Office program? Come into the computer lab and ask Melissa for assistance.
Saturday, May 4th at 9:45 am - Spanish Computer Lab- Introducción a la Computadora para adultos

Monthly or Bi-Monthly Events at the Library
First Thursday, May 2nd at 11:30 am – Toddler Playdate
Ages 0-3 enjoy a come-and-go program that encourages independent toddler play and socialization with educational toys and board books. Miss Brandy looks forward to seeing everyone for a wonderful playdate! This is a monthly program.
First Thursday, May 2nd at 4:00 pm – Pre-Teen After-School Book Club
All kids ages 9-12 years old are invited to join us for our preteen book club in our Children's Activity Room. We meet once every month to discuss your favorite books. (Parents or other adult caregivers are asked to remain in the Children's Department while your preteen is participating in the book club.)
Second Thursday, May 9th at 4:00 pm - LEGO® and DUPLO® Fun
Kids of all ages are invited to come to build their own creation using Legos® and Duplos® during the hour of 3:45 - 4:45pm in our Children's Activity Room! Parents are asked to remain in the room with their children under age 13.
Second and Fourth Tuesday, May 14th and 28th at 5:00 pm – Needlecraft: A Good Yarn!
Crocheters, knitters, spinners, and other textile artists are welcome for fellowship and conversation! Bring your own work-in-progress and supplies and join us in the first floor small meeting room at the Central Library. If you would like to learn knitting or crochet, please come by.

Wednesdays at 10:30 am – Preschooler Storytime – Ages 3-6 years
Thursdays at 10:00 am – Baby and Me – Ages Birth-18 mo.
Thursdays at 10:30 am – Toddler Storytime – Ages 18 mo.-3 years
Last preschooler and toddler storytimes for the season on May 8th and 9th.
Storytimes will continue in late August.
Library Holiday Closing
Memorial Day – May 27th all MCMLS branches closed
