*New* Morning Book Club, Second Wednesday, January 8 th from 10:00-11:00 a.m.
Join us for coffee, cookies, and discussion every second Wednesday morning of the month from
10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Ages 18 and up. January's novel will be The Secrets of Midwives by Sally
Hepworth.

Tuesday, January 7 th at 2:00 p.m. -- Gardening with Bob Dailey: Spring Gardening. Join Master Gardener, Bob Dailey, for a discussion on great spring gardening practices for Montgomery County residents. Make your garden bountiful and beautiful this season!

Tuesday, January 21 st at 1:00 p.m. – Building Your Credit Score
Do you want to purchase a new home, car, etc.? Find out how you can boost your credit score and
pay off debt! A representative from Easter Seals Greater Houston will be here to walk you through
the steps to get you started.

Genealogy Classes

Friday, January 10 at 10:30 a.m. –FamilySearch Finds : Using The Catalog & Accessing

Digital content

Familysearch is the second largest genealogical database online. As an affiliate library, the MCMLS
Genealogy department provides unique access to this invaluable database. Join us for a special
workshop that covers the how to utilize the Family History Library Catalog which provides access to
billions of digitized records. The workshop will also touch on how to access the digital records and
books available thru FamilySearch.


Wednesday, January 22 at 1:00 p.m. – Researching Your Hispanic Roots
More than 56.6 million people can claim Hispanic Heritage in the United States.
Join the genealogy department for a special workshop on researching your Hispanic roots. We will
cover methodologies and sources to use to trace back your immigrant ancestor, and then cover the
major sources to use to trace your family lines back into Mexico, South America- and eventually- back
to Spain.


Tuesday, January 28 at 1:00 p.m. – Geographical Genealogy
Knowing the location where your ancestors lived is critical to successful genealogy searches.
Join us for a special workshop that covers maps, gazetteers, and GIS data. Come learn tips and tricks
to overcome obstacles like changing geographic boundaries and names of places, and find your
ancestors in their right place on the map!

Monthly or Bi-Monthly Events at the Library
Second Thursday, January 9 th at 6:00 p.m. – Novels at Night Book Club
Join us for tea, cookies, and a great book discussion every second Thursday of the month at 6:00
p.m. Ages 18 and up. January's read will be The Secrets of Midwives by Sally Hepworth.
Second and Fourth Tuesday, January 14 th and 28 th at 5:00 pm – Needlecraft: A Good Yarn!
Crocheters, knitters, spinners, and other textile artists are welcome for fellowship and conversation!
Bring your own work-in-progress and supplies and join us in the first floor small meeting room at the
Central Library. If you would like to learn knitting or crochet, please come by.

Thursdays at 10:00 am – Baby and Me – Ages Birth-18 mo.
Thursdays at 10:30 am – Toddler Storytime – Ages 18 mo.-3 years

First Preschooler Storytime for the year will be on January 8 th . First Baby & Me and Toddler
Storytime for 2020 will be on January 9 th .

New Year’s – January 1 st all MCMLS branches closed
Martin Luther King Day – January 20 th all MCMLS branches closed
