Local businesses join with nonprofits to support critical grant efforts

CONROE, TX — Several local businesses recently put their money where their heart is – supporting five local nonprofit organizations in their pursuit of grant and other funding opportunities.
Last month, the Chamber announced a three-month Grant Strategy Academy, in partnership with Boyd Grants. While the Academy is available at a discounted rate to local nonprofits, the Chamber reached out to its member businesses to see if they would sponsor a nonprofit, and several stepped up to do just that.
On Wednesday, June 11, the Chamber will bring these for-profit sponsors together with their nonprofit partners. The media is invited to attend this photo opportunity, which is scheduled for 9 a.m. in the Chamber Board Room (505 West Davis St., Conroe, TX 77304).
“We know that budgets for many of our area’s nonprofits are tight,” said Pauline Veazey, the Chamber’s Vice President of Operations & Finance. “Not only will this Grant Strategy Academy give them tools and strategies to help them to secure much-needed funding, but the sponsorship program essentially provides these organizations with valuable training at no cost. Fostering these win-win relationships within our business community is central to the Chamber’s mission.”
Sponsors (and their nonprofit partners) include:
- Guaranty Bank & Trust: (Community Assistance Center and Family Promise of Montgomery County)
- McKenzie’s Barbeque & Burgers (The Players Theatre Company)
- Joe’s Italian Restaurant (The Center for Mighty Marriages and Families)
- Dean & Draper Insurance (YES to Youth Montgomery County)
The Grant Strategy Academy begins June 11 and runs bi-weekly through August, consisting of a combination of group workshops and one-on-one strategy sessions.
