It’s just been that kind of season so far for the Conroe High School boys’ soccer team.

The Tigers did everything but put the ball in the net in the second half of a 2-1 District 14-5A loss at Oak Ridge on Friday.

“We had possession 60 percent of the second half,” lamented Conroe coach Joe Rodriguez. “We had four shots inside of 10 yards of the goal.”

However, none of them found the net and the Tigers slipped to 8-3-3 overall and 0-3-1 in District 14-5A play.

“It’s heartbreaking when you play well and you go home with a loss,” Rodriguez added. “That’s how the season has gone the last five games.”

Ivan Adame scored a goal off a corner kick and the match was tied 1-1 at halftime. But Oak Ridge scored on a rare second-half opportunity for what proved to be the game-winner.
