CONROE, Texas – The bad news is that the Conroe High School boys’ soccer team has lost two of its top players to season-ending injuries so far in 2013 and the Tigers continue to look for that first District 14-5A victory.

The good news is that at the halfway point in the season, the Tigers are still within striking distance of a playoff berth.

The Tigers tied Lufkin 1-1 on Tuesday. It was the third tie in league play for Conroe (0-3-3).

The match closed out the first round of district play with The Woodlands (5-1) leading the pack with 15 points. A&M Consolidated (4-1-1) and Bryan (4-2) follow with 14 and 12 points respectively.

That’s where things get interesting as the second round beings. Both Oak Ridge (2-3-1) and Lufkin (2-3-1) are tied for fourth place with seven points. Conroe is next in line with three points and College Park (0-4-2) has two points.

In the girls’ standings, at the end of the first round of district play, The Woodlands (4-0-2) leads the way with 14 points but Lufkin (4-1-1) and A&M Consolidated (3-0-3) are close behind with 13 and 12 points respectively.

Oak Ridge (3-2-1) is in fourth place with 10 points followed by College Park (2-3-1), Bryan (1-5) and Conroe (0-6).
