Soccer: Conroe falls by The Woodlands' late goal

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Playoff chances for the Conroe High School boys’ soccer team took a double whammy on Friday.
The Tigers fought hard and played a tough, physical match at The Woodlands. But the District 14-5A leading Highlanders scored with just 1:37 left in the match to take a 1-0 victory.
On the same night, Lufkin rose up and defeated A&M Consolidated 3-0.
That puts Conroe, 0-4-3 in district play, seven points behind Lufkin (3-3-1) for fourth place. The Woodlands (6-1) holds a three-point lead over second-place Bryan (5-2) with A&M Consolidated (4-2-1) holding down third place. Oak Ridge (2-4-1) is in fifth place followed by Conroe and College Park (0-4-2) in order.
The Conroe Tigerettes fell 5-0 to The Woodlands on Friday at Buddy Moorhead Stadium. The Lady Highlanders (5-0-2) remain one point ahead of Lufkin (5-1-1). Oak Ridge (4-2-1) is third and A&M Consolidated (3-1-3) fourth. College Park (2-3-1), Bryan (1-6) and Conroe (0-7) follow in order.
