Basketball: Conroe to host tournament

CONROE, Texas – The Conroe High School girls’ basketball team will host the 64th Annual Tigerette Classic, Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 8-10.

The Tigerettes are one of 16 teams competing in the event. Conroe opens tournament play at 2 p.m. Thursday against Aldine MacArthur at Porter Gym. The other 2 p.m. opener pits College Park and Westfield at The Pit.

Conroe will then play at 2 p.m. Friday against either Tomball or Jersey Village.

The tournament championship game is set for 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Porter Gym. The consolation finals are set for 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Porter Gym with the fifth-place game slated for 1:30 p.m. Saturday at The Pit. The third-place game is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday at Porter Gym.

The other opening round games Thursday in Conroe’s bracket find Bryan vs. Huntsville (5 p.m.) and Oak Ridge vs. Morton Ranch (6:30 p.m.).

Opposite bracket opening round games on Thursday include Cy-Creek vs. Klein Oak (3:30 p.m.), Lufkin vs. Fort Bend Austin (5 p.m.), and Klein Collins vs. Summer Creek (6:30 p.m.).

Conroe opened the 2012-13 season with a 54-38 victory over Willis on Tuesday. Courtney Boatright and Reagan Magee combined for 28 points to lead the way, offsetting a 22-point performance from Willis’ Haley Sellers.
