MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- The Montgomery County Emergency Assistance has established a duck dynasty with the 6th annual Great American Duck Race presented by Entergy at Rob Fleming Park Aquatic Center in the Village of Creekside Park in The Woodlands on July 4th. Prizes will be awarded to the lucky ducks whose entries float across the finish line ahead of the ‘paddling.’

To get into the swim of things, the MCEA will be making the circuit around the county so that the community can purchase their entrants. Each numbered duck is $5; a ‘Quack Pack’ of six is $25.

Kroger and Fred Meyer Jeweler are sponsoring a morning of contests and prizes to create awareness and funds for the MCEA’s Duck Race. Family fun activities will start at 9:00 a.m. at Kroger in Willis, located at 12466 I-45 North at FM 1097. Adopt a duck for a chance to win a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro from Buckalew Chevrolet. The mascot, Quack E. Duck, will be on hand for photo ops.

“We’re also having a Duck Dynasty look-alike contest,” said Margie Taylor with the MCEA. “The contest will be held at noon.”

The schedule of events to purchase ducks for the race is as follows:

6/15-6/16 Incredible Pizza 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.

6/22 Unique Resale Garage Sale-1717 Frazier Road in Conroe

6/29 Texan Harley Davidson Car Wash in Conroe 10 a.m. - noon

“The Great American Duck Race isn’t just a fundraiser, it’s an event.” said Taylor. “It’s family-friendly activities the month before the race [are] to raise awareness not only for the race, but for the families in need of the services of the Montgomery County Emergency assistance.”

All funding from duck adoptions and this fundraising event enable the MCEA to help families with rent, utilities, LifeSkills, and other basic necessities. Visit their website for more information or to make a donation at Montgomery County Emergency Assistance.
