Find and Seek Scavenger Hunt in Downtown Conroe

CONROE, Texas - Jumping on the Pokemon Go craze of people using their cell phones to track animated objects with their phone app, the Conroe Downtown Area Association will have their first Scavenger Hunt through 19 venues next Tuesday, September 20, from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Participants will gather for information at Founder’s Plaza Park located at 205 Metcalf Street in Downtown Conroe.
“We were looking for a fun event to get more people into the shops and restaurants in the Downtown area during the week after school started," said Margie Taylor of Taylorized PR. “The monthly First Thursday Farmer’s Market has been increasing traffic but event goers do not necessarily go into the shops. We wanted them to see all that our wonderful downtown has to offer.”
The Conroe Downtown Area Association (CDAA) sponsors the event that is free to the public. No pre-registration, but the first 200 participants will receive a goodie bag with valuable coupons from the Corner Pub, Conroe Coffee, Mimi’s On Main, The Mercantile, The Assistance League, Cowtown Couture, The Crighton Theatre-Stage Right, The Players of the Owen Theatre, The Switch Hair Salon, Downtown Roots Hair Salon, and a free ring cleaning from Brownlee Jewelers.
The public is invited to come and go in teams of 2 and start at any of the venues to find the items described in their instructions. They will write down where they found the items and go on to the next venue until complete. All paperwork will be turned in at Founder’s Plaza Park. It is not a timed race, but the participants will venture from Carmelita’s on Hwy 105 past Main, down through the shops on backside of Courthouse on Main, several venues on Simonton, down Main to Metcalf, the Conroe Sparkle on Metcalf near Pacific, down to the Owen Theatre on Metcalf, then down 2 blocks to The Assistance League on San Jacinto and Metcalf, and finally down North Thompson to the Conroe Central Market.
All items will be found by going inside each venue. Answers must be exact to be eligible to win one of the 19 prizes donated by the participating venues. Prizes include a $50 gift certificate from the Red Brick tavern, hair products worth $50, jewelry valued at $75 from Brownlee Jewelers, a gift certificate worth $200 towards an event at Conroe Sparkle Event Hall, tickets to the production of Addams Family at the Crighton Theatre, tickets to The 39 Steps at The Owen Theatre, and many other valuable gift cards to explore the Downtown Conroe stores, restaurants, and exhibits.
